Vylor may be a new name, but its genetics, brands and people are already familiar to Europe’s seed industry. So what’s actually changing now that the company is independent? That’s a question Jean-Philippe Riffat, Vylor’s President, EMEA-APAC, has been hearing frequently at Euroseeds 2026.

The biggest change, he says, is focus. Vylor is now dedicated entirely to seed and genetics, with ambitions to accelerate innovation in areas ranging from gene editing and disease resistance to hybrid wheat.

But there’s another part of the strategy that matters to other seed companies: Vylor wants to make more of its genetics and technologies available through partnerships, even as it competes with those same companies.

“We will be both a very fierce competitor, but also a very strong partner,” Riffat says.

How will that work? And where does Riffat see the biggest opportunities for plant breeding and seed innovation in the years ahead?

Watch the interview above, filmed live at Euroseeds 2026, to hear what Vylor’s independence could mean for the wider seed sector.
