At Lidea, safeguarding the health and safety of our teams is a top priority, and to that end, we’ve made the decision to implement ISO 45001 standard across all our operational sites. This voluntary initiative—uncommon within our sector—brings structure and standardisation to our approach, creating an ever-safer working environment for our employees.
We are especially proud to be pioneers in this area among seed companies of our size and profile, achieving certification for several sites across Europe. In France, our Lescar facility led the way in 2017 with OHSAS 18001 certification (now replaced by ISO 45001), followed by our facilities in Seville, Spain, and Tcherkasy, Ukraine, where even our agricultural production is also certified. Most recently, in April 2024, our site in Braila, Romania, achieved ISO 45001 certification. In September 2024, this site reached a remarkable milestone: 1,000 days without an accident—a collective success celebrated internally to recognise and thank all teams involved.
To us, safety is far more than a legal obligation; it is a fundamental commitment that defines who we are as a company. This commitment comes to life through a comprehensive and proactive management system that actively engages our teams. We’ve developed a robust safety toolkit that includes site visits, dedicated safety weeks, feedback forms, and even risk-hunting activities to foster awareness in a practical and engaging way.
These actions have a powerful and measurable impact across our facilities. More than just adhering to standards, we are building a genuine culture of safety. Our employees know that they are valued and protected, with tangible proof that their health and safety are among our highest priorities. Thanks to the decisions and investments made by management, everyone can go home safely each day.
Implementing this kind of management system does more than improve our safety practices and indicators; it demands a level of discipline that translates into greater quality and productivity. By reinforcing our processes, we are also elevating the quality of our seeds to meet the high expectations of our clients and partners.
